A car bomb detonated Friday as a woman was starting her van in the driveway of her home, throwing her from the vehicle and scattering debris as far as a block away, the FBI said. There were no injuries.

The blast occurred about 6:30 a.m. EDT, startling neighbors getting ready for work in a residential area known as Kendall, where the woman, whose name was not released, lived with her family."We looked out the door and we saw there were flames (around the car) and my father had a fire extinguisher and put it out," said Carole Griffin, a neighbor.

FBI spokesman Paul Miller said agents did not know of any motive for the bombing and did not know whether the woman was the target.
