The deadline for teams to enter the Deseret News, Coca Cola, Karl Malone All-Star, 3-on-3 Roundball Ruckus basketball tournament is fast approaching. The tournament is presented by the Deseret News.
Teams have until Thursday, June 21 to submit their applications. They may be taken to Coca Cola of Salt Lake at 875 West South Temple. Offices will remain open until 10:00 p.m. to accommodate late entries.The tournament expects 400 teams representing various levels of expertise. It's open to men and women ages 10 to 99.
This is the first year Roundball Ruckus will appear in the Salt Lake area. Previous tournaments have been held in Denver and San Antonio.
The tournament will be played over three days at the 49th Street Galleria on outdoor courts. Games will run from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and all day Saturday. Each team is guaranteed three games.
Entry forms are available at all Hardee's 7-11s and Dan's.
The registration fee is $60 per team and four players need to be registered for each three-person team.
In addition to the competition in each division, there will be a slam-dunk contest on 8 1/2 foot baskets for those under 6-feet and a slam-dunk contest on a regular basket for those over 6-feet. There will also be free-throw and 3-point shooting contests.
