It pays to be a working actor, especially in Hollywood. The Screen Actors Guild for thespians says its members earned a record $939.9 million in 1989, up 17.7 percent from 1988. Members of the union's Hollywood chapter accounted for $528 million of those earnings, while New Yorkers were No. 2 at $308 million.
