Superstar Michael Jackson was hospitalized in Santa Monica, Calif., Sunday night after complaining of chest pains, a spokesman said.
Jackson, 31, was admitted about 9 p.m. to Saint John's Hospital and HealthCenter, where his friend, actress Elizabeth Taylor, is undergoing treatment for pneumonia."According to his physician, he's in stable condition and appropriate tests are being conducted," a hospital statement said.
Jackson spokesman Lee Solters said he did not know what the singer was doing when he suffered the pains. Solters said the singer had no history of heart problems.
Jackson maintains a lifestyle apparently untarnished by rock music's usual perquisites of drugs and sex. In fact, he is a symbol of purity who does not drink, smoke, swear or eat junk food. He fasted weekly to purge impurities in his body.
