Walter Van Cott Palmer, age 84, died early Sunday morning, June 3, 1990.
He was born July 30, 1905, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ezra Thompson and Edith Van Cott Palmer. He married Grace Norfolk Wells on June 15, 1925, in Salt Lake City. Mr. Palmer was in the service station, auto repair and motel business in Salt Lake City for over 40 years. He retired and moved to St. George in 1979. He was a member of the Aviation Club, Ambassador Club, Kiwanis Club, and the Elks Club in Salt Lake City, and the Elks Club and Bloomington Country Club in St. George. He was a member of the LDS Church. Walter lived a rich and full life, and his passing will be a painful loss to all who knew him.
Surviving family members include: His wife, Grace, St. George; three sons, one daughter, Richard W. Palmer, Walter W. Palmer, both Salt Lake City; Steven W. Palmer, St. George; Geraldine Palmer Jones, Irvine, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Palmer Larch, Caroline Palmer Ford, both St. George. He was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Douglas (Cork) Palmer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 6, 1990, at 11 a.m., at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., where friends may call one hour prior to services. Friends may, if they wish, in lieu of flowers, make contributions to the American Cancer Foundation. Interment, Friday, June 8, 1990, at 11 a.m., in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
