SHARE FUNERAL WILL BE HELD THURSDAY FOR GENEALOGIST T.H. JACOBSEN

A funeral for T. Harold Jacobsen, genealogist, archivist and author, will be held at noon Thursday, July 12, in the Val Verda 3rd Ward Chapel, 2633 S. 50 West.

Mr. Jacobsen died July 9, 1990, in Lakeview Hospital of a heart attack. He was 71.Mr. Jacobsen was coordinator of the Records and Microfilm Division of the Genealogical Society from 1936-61. He served as the Utah state archivist records administrator from 1963 to 1983.

In that position, he increased the records from filling less than half the basement of the Capitol to nearly filling the entire basement and a warehouse on 21st South. He also began the publication of records and laws of the Legislature.

Mr. Jacobsen was the recipient of many honors and awards, including the Silver Platter of the Utah Genealogical Association. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Utah Historical Society.

The inventor of microfilm accessories and archival tables, Mr. Jacobsen was instrumental in the preliminary planning of the LDS Church's Granite Vault in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 South in Salt Lake City, and an hour before services at the ward. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
