SHARE NEPHI NAMES RESIDENT, 94, AS MARSHAL

Clarence H. Warner, Nephi, will serve as grand marshal of the 56th Annual Ute Stampede Mammoth Parade on Friday, July 13.

Warner will celebrate his 94th birthday just a few days after the event - on July 17. He was selected for the service he has rendered his community for many years.He was a city councilman for 12 years, and served as chairman of the Juab County Welfare Committee for 30 years.

Warner has served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has been a Scoutmaster.

He has a strong bass voice and has sung in church services, performed in operas, choirs, programs, minstrels, funerals and quartets. In 1928, his quartet won first place in a contest held in the Salt Lake LDS Tabernacle.

He worked at the Juab County Mill and Elevator Company for 52 years, 40 as head miller. He retired 25 years ago at age 65.

In 1901, when he was five years old, Warner marched in the parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the settlement of Nephi.

Grand marshal of the Ute Stampede horse parade Thursday was Don Barton. Barton owned and operated Barton Plumbing and Heating in Nephi until his retirement.

For several years he has been a member of the Nephi-Nebo Posse and is a member of the Juab County Sheriff's Patrol.
