A.E. (Gene) Fleming, retired general manager of General Electric, died July 23, 1990, at age 80.
Mr. Fleming, a native of Salt Lake City, worked for Utah Power & Light Co. as a lighting specialist. He engineered the first lighting of the Salt Lake LDS Temple and Centre Theatre.Later, he went to work for General Electric, retiring as a district regional manager in Salt Lake City and Denver.
Active in community and church activities, Mr. Fleming was a member of Rotary International and the Illuminating Engineers Society, where he served as president and vice president. He formerly served in the bishopric of the Cottonwood 12th LDS Ward.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 27, at noon in Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Dr., where friends may call on Thursday, 6-8 p.m., and on Friday an hour prior to services. Burial will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
