John Williams Bess, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, age 79, died July 28, 1990 at his home of natural causes.
Born January 6, 1911 in Cedar City, Utah to Joseph Benjamine and Agnes Webster Bess. Married Ramona Bacon April 28, 1933; solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple May 27, 1947. High Priest in the LDS Church, Murray 11th Ward. Avid hunter and fisherman.Survived by wife; sons and their spouses, Richard and Vera Lee, Altamont, Ut.; Larry and Connie, of Sandy; Michael and Lois, Boulder, Nev.; John H. and Kathy, South Jordan; David L. and Debra, Bluff Dale; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ambrose, St. George; Keith, Cedar City; Rex, Parawon; Nolan, Kearns; Colleen Murdoch, Cedar City; LaRue Rowley, Cedar City; and Marie Wheeler, Las Vegas, Nev. Preceded in death by two children, Betty Ramona, and Robert.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m., in the Murray 11th Ward, 5750 South Nena Way. Friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, and Tuesday at the church one hour prior to service. Interment, Cedar City Cemetery, Tuesday 4:30 p.m.
