Unrestricted free agent Greg Kite, a 7-year NBA veteran most recently with the Sacramento Kings, has signed a contract with the Orlando Magic, team president and general manager Pat Williams said Tuesday.

Terms of the deal with the 6-foot-11, 260-pound center were not announced.Kite, 29, was a member of the 1984 and 1986 Boston Celtics world championship teams. In his seven years in the NBA, the former BYU player has averaged 2.3 points and 3.1 rebounds a game, blocking 252 shots.

"We are very pleased to have signed Greg and firmed up our center position for the coming season," Williams said. "Greg will give us the needed size and inside game that we will need to contend with the teams of the Midwest Division."

Kite, the Celtics' first-round draft pick out of BYU in 1983, started 47 of 71 games with the Kings and averaged 3.2 points and a career-high 5.3 rebounds. He also shot 43 percent from the field and blocked 51 shots.
