The weekend box office verdict favored the courtroom drama "Presumed Innocent," which made its debut in first place.

Starring Harrison Ford as a prosecutor accused of murdering a former lover, "Presumed Innocent" grossed $11.7 million, according to figures released by Exhibitor Relations Co"Ghost" was No. 2, scaring up $11.1 million in its third weekend of release.

The poorly reviewed "Problem Child" opened to strong business of $10 million for third. The killer spider adventure "Arachnophobia," building on positive word of mouth, had ticket sales of $8.2 million for fourth.

Plummeting 41 percent to fifth was Bruce Willis' "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" with $6 million.

"The Freshman," featuring Marlon Brando in a critically acclaimed parody of his "Godfather" role, made $4.2 million for sixth place.

Here are the week's top movie ticket sales as tallied by Exhibitor Relations:

1. "Presumed Innocent," $11.7 million (first week).

2. "Ghost," $11.1 million ($51.4 million, three weeks).
