General Mills' new Oatmeal Crisp was no doubt made for those who think the California Raisins should samba off into the Pacific Ocean. This new version is advertised as "Oatmeal goodness in lightly sweetened flakes with almonds." (And there are definitely no raisins.) The 18.5 oz. box retails for $3.30.

Kay Hadley: "The entire crew gave a thumbs up to Oatmeal Crisp. This cereal is light and crunchy and the almonds add a nice nutty flavor and texture. Like most cold cereals it has its nutritional pros and cons. But we like it and recommend it with or without the raisins."Don Russell: "I like oatmeal and brown sugar, so I was biased long before I tried this cereal. Oatmeal Crisp is an appealing cold cereal that is flavorful and satisfying. It appeals to both young and old alike. Also, Oatmeal Crisp is a good choice to put in muffins and selected desserts like Apple Betty."

Doris Wilding: "This cereal was rather ho-hum and, in fact, I still have some left. In view of the high price, too, this won't be on our shopping list."

Judy Slack: "This is a cereal that I have always enjoyed. I have one child that doesn't like raisins so this made us all happy."

Edyth Jensen: "We quite liked this cold cereal because it doesn't sog up as fast as most cold oat cereals seem to do. The flakes stay crisp longer and the almond pieces are big enough to taste. We will be using this item again."

Linda C. Tingey: "Thumbs up on this one! Besides being good for you, this cereal tastes great. My kids are very picky eaters, but they really enjoyed Oatmeal Crisp. This will be on our shopping list - though not every week because of the cost."

Conclusion: By a five-to-one vote, new Oatmeal Crisp cereal wins the breakfast sweepstakes. Crisp, tasty and good for you to boot.
