An Australian sailor who was perturbed over images of President Bush playing golf in the midst of the military buildup against Iraq will face a court-martial Sept. 24 for refusing to serve in the Persian Gulf.
"I will fight and die for Australia, but I won't die fighting to keep United States oil lines open," Seaman Terry Jones said.Jones refused to sail to the gulf with his ship, the missile frigate HMAS Adelaide, after seeing television footage of Bush playing golf.
In a statement released though West Australian Sen. Jo Valentine, Jones said he was incensed that Bush spent time relaxing at his vacation home in Kennebunkport, Maine, while Australian sailors were being sent to a war zone.
