Happy Days will be here again as Henry Winkler, "The Fonz," comes to Salt Lake City for the Third Annual Governor's Conference on Families.

Winkler will be the keynote speaker for the conference "Smarter Parents, Happier Children" to be held at Symphony Hall in the Salt Palace on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.Winkler is well-known for his part in television's "Happy Days" and is currently directing and producing the television series "MacGyver." A graduate of Yale, he is married and has three children. He received the Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award for his special work with disadvantaged children.

The conference focuses on helping parents create the kind of home they want for their children. Hyrum Smith, chairman of Franklin International Institute, will teach a special session on "Positive Parenting," and Elouise Bell, humorist, writer and professor at Brigham Young University will address "Communication." Many other educators, psychologist, social workers and professionals will also conduct workshops addressing marriage communication, building successful kids and single parenting, plus many others.

"Parents must develop skills that will provide a loving understanding haven in a world that is demanding too much, too often from its children," said Gov. Norm Bangerter.
