A Wyoming man charged with felony aggravated assault for allegedly shooting a man in the foot has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Jerry Hernandez, 39, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, a Class A misdemeanor. His sentencing date is set for Sept. 26 before 3rd Circuit Judge Leroy H. Griffiths.Jeff Oss, 25, of Provo, was shot in the foot with a .32-caliber handgun during a children's BMX bicycle race in mid-August at the Twin Peaks bike motocross racetrack, 5858 S. 800 West.

Witnesses said a man whose son had lost a cycle race was harassing other young competitors. Oss asked the man to be a good sport when an "altercation ensued" and the man allegedly pulled a firearm from his car and shot Oss while the two were fighting, a Murray police officer said.
