Singer Paul Anka became a U.S. citizen and had his car towed in the process.

Anka received his certificate of citizenship Thursday with 54 other people during a federal court ceremony in Las Vegas.Too bad he parked in a spot reserved for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. A court security officer said the car was towed during the ceremony.

Anka, 49, born in Ottawa, Canada, joked about his desire to become an American.

"After paying a million in taxes every year I figured it was time to give me the right to do everything," he said.
