Alan Wiggins, the second baseman on the San Diego Padres' 1984 pennant-winning team who had a long history of drug abuse, died Sunday night. He was 32.

Ron Wise, a spokesman for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said Tuesday Wiggins died of pneumonia, tuberculosis and other medical complications at 9:45 p.m. Sunday.Wiggins played seven years in the majors with the Padres and Baltimore Orioles. As a member of the Padres in 1982, he was suspended for 30 days after his arrest for cocaine possession.
