When police say someone passed a "large" counterfeit bill at a convenience store, they aren't talking about just the denomination.

The bogus $100 bill was a foot long and 5 inches wide.It was passed by someone who managed to convince the clerk Oct. 12 that the bill was a genuine 1950-series greenback, Sgt. Garland Wade said Tuesday.

"It's just a novelty item," he said. "You can see them in carnivals, or whatever. The old thing is worn and tattered."
