John Walsh Halford beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, died on October 15, 1991 at home after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born November 3, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles William and Lillian HonoreHalford. John was their eighth child. During World War II he served his country from November, 1943 until May, 1946 as an Able Bodied Seaman in the United States Merchant Marines. John married Lorraine Layton on May 5, 1951; a union that was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked 30 years as a journeyman mechanic for Interstate Motor Lines.
Survived by his wife, Lorraine; their five children, Val John Halford, Bountiful; Connie Halford Plant, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; LuAnn Halford Baron, West Valley City; Susan Halford Evans, Rexburg, Idaho; Gill W. Halford, Salt Lake City; their spouses and six grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Violet Jayne, Lucille Knight, Kenneth
Halford, LeRoy Halford, David Halford, Dora Plant and Richard Halford. Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lawrence Halford,
Horace Halford, Charles Halford and one sister,
Lillian Halford.
John will be remembered forever to those who knew him as a loving, generous and honorable man. He loved his family and was especially proud of his children. John was ordained a High Priest in the Bountiful 17th Ward, Bountiful East Stake. He served as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America and as a Little League Baseball Coach in the Bountiful National League.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 19, 1991, 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East, Bountiful. Friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
