Two associates of evangelist Jimmy Swaggart resigned from his organization, but they would not say if their leaving was related to a new scandal involving Swaggart and an alleged prostitute.

Swaggart was stopped Oct. 11 by police in Indio, Calif., and charged with traffic violations. A woman in the car later said she was a prostitute and that Swaggart had asked for sex.On Tuesday, Swaggart's son, Donnie, announced his father was stepping down for an indefinite period to get medical and spiritual help. But by Wednesday night, Swaggart was back in the pulpit, telling his congregation that God told him to return.

The Rev. Jim Rentz acknowledged his resignation Thursday as co-pastor at Swaggart's Family Worship Center. Wayne Austin's wife, Dee, confirmed her husband's resignation as a vice president at Jimmy Swaggart Bible College.

Both declined to comment further.

Swaggart on Wednesday refused to discuss the incident with his congregation. "The Lord told me it's flat none of your business," Swaggart said.
