Quebec Nordiques coach and general manager Pierre Page wants a better work ethic from his team after taking the helm last Sunday.
His team responded with a 5-2 win over the Canadiens Thursday night, ending a six-game losing streak and giving Page his first win behind the Nordique bench.Much has been made of the fact that Page's practices this week have been much harder than those of his predecessor Dave Chambers. Quebec responded well, showing a cohesion that had been lacking.
Page made one change to his lineup, returning 21-year old defenseman Dan Lambert, who was called up from the minors. Lambert was the game's best defenseman, playing well on both ends of the ice.
He opened the scoring for the Nordiques with his first NHL goal.
Kings 6, Rangers 1
At Inglewood, Calif., Mike Donnelly scored two goals and added an assist to help the Kings to their second straight victory after going six games without a win.

At Calgary, Alberta, Tim Sweeney's first goal of the season, at 14:01 of the third period lifted the Flames. Theoren Fleury scored his team-leading 13th and 14th goals for the Flames, who snapped a four-game losing streak at home.
