Hiroshi Tawa, 79, died November 29, 1991 of congestive heart failure at a local hospital.

Born January 17, 1912 in Los Angeles, California to Inota and Chiyoka Tawa. Graduated from Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah in 1931, where he quarterbacked the football team. Married Florence Umemura, September 8, 1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada; she preceded him in death June 1991. Retired as a partner from Quality Produce, Inc. after thirty years. Enjoyed traveling, geography, his friends and his family. Member of the Japanese Church of Christ. He will be remembered for his spirit and generosity and his love and knowledge of the produce business.Survived by his sister, Michi Tawa, Los Angeles; his brother, W. Kei Tawa, Palos Verdes Penninsula; his children: Jane Watanabe and husband, Fumihiko; Janice Williams and husband, Tom; Daniel Tawa and his wife, Leila; Joanne Nakaki-Hanson and husband, Gordon; Yoshiko Petersen and husband, Byron; nieces, nephews and their families: Thomas Tawa, Tomiko Tawa, Gene Tawa, Louise Rudolph, Richard Tawa, Setsuko Guillen, Eileen Nakamura, Leigh Fukunaga, Irene Fukunaga, Michiko Othello, Keiko Tawa, Susan Izu, Kathy Nim, Sally Yoshida, Eileen Kasai, Jana Hansen, Paulie Kasai, and Karla Paige; grandchildren: Aaron and Jonathan Watanabe, Jessica Taylor, Eric and Sydney Hanson. Preceded in death by his sisters: Setsuko Tawa, Violet Nakaki and Chiye Fukunaga; his brothers: Tetsuo Tawa and Irving Tawa.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 3:00 p.m., December 4, 1991 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Dr., where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
