Davis County Commission
In its meeting last week, the commission:- Heard a presentation from Linda Stevens from the Davis Area Technology Center, Kaysville, about the May 2 Human Race fund-raiser for the DATC's Turning Point program. The 5K race and related events last year raised about $3,000 for the program, which offers job training and counseling to single parents and displaced homemakers.
- Appointed three new members to the county's tourism advisory board and reappointed five current members.
Appointed to two-year terms are J. Spencer Kinard, Fruit Heights; David Porter, Kaysville; and Donna Cullimore, Bountiful. Reappointed for one-year terms are Bruce Lloyd, representing Cherry Hill; Mitchell Larsson, from the state parks department; Richard Andrew, representing Lagoon; Don Sides, county fair manager; and Todd Johnson, manager of the Cottontree Inn.
- Approved several minor changes in the county's personnel policies and procedures, recommended by personnel director Steve Baker.
Bountiful City Council
In its meeting last week, the council:
- Awarded a $107,701 bid to G F & A for construction of a storage building and improvements for maintenance at the city golf course. A dozen contractors submitted bids ranging from $107,000 to $185,000.
- Approved a request for an additional crossing guard at Washington Elementary, 340 W. 650 South. The guard will work at 500 South and 200 West.
- Extended a contract for cover material for the landfill from 100,000 cubic yards to 500,000. The city will pay $1.70 per cubic yard, 25 cents per cubic yard less than the second lowest bid and $3 less per cubic yard than the original 100,000 cubic yards.
- Set an order to show cause hearing why the Class A beer license of Food 4 Less, 1800 S. Main, should not be suspended or revoked. The store sold beer to three minors this year, according to City Attorney Layne Forbes.
