Five Utahns are among 1,368 doctors from around the world who recently became fellows of the American College of Surgeons:
- John Greenleaf Hunter, Salt Lake City.- Randall Kay Jones, West Jordan.
- Jesse N. Hunsaker, American Fork.
- Robert Lynn Mellor, Layton.
- Michael H. Buch, Ogden.
The College of Surgeons is the world's largest organization of surgeons, spokeswoman Michelle Troksa said. Fellows meet stringent membership requirements, including graduation from an approved medical school, advanced training and practice in the same location for at least two years.
Before admission, the surgeon must demonstrate ethical conduct and good character, and his acceptance must be approved by at least three-quarters of the college's board of regents.
