Salt Lake County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Wilkinson was appointed as one of the sheriff's three chief deputies Thursday.
Sheriff Aaron Kennard said Wilkinson's appointment completes the reorganization plans he outlined nearly a year ago when he took office.Wilkinson will oversee operations within the sheriff's office, which includes patrol and special units such as the Traffic Division. Chief deputy Robert R. Sundquist will oversee Corrections and Court Services, including the new Oxbow Misdemeanor Facility in South Salt Lake.
Chief deputy Don J. Strong will continue to oversee Investigations and Support Services. All three men work directly under Kennard and Undersheriff Darrell Brady.
Wilkinson previously served as captain over Support Services, which included communications, records and supply. He also supervised the Search and Rescue operations and the sheriff's reserve units.
