Elder L. Tom Perry of the Council of the Twelve created the Bay City Texas Stake, which includes the Angleton, Bay City, Lake Jackson, Victoria 1st, and Victoria 2nd wards, and the Port Lavaca, Sweeny, and Wharton branches.Elsewhere, stakes were reorganized in Alabama, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Tahiti.
