A sharp earthquake struck Alaska's interior and was felt in the Fairbanks area, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said.

The quake at 9:04 p.m. Wednesday measured 5.4 on the Richter scale in a preliminary reading, said Bob Hammond, a geophysicist at the center.The epicenter was about 110 miles north of Fairbanks.
