The following "rap lyrics" were written by 8-year-old Bobbi Sue French, a third-grader at Meadow Lark Elementary School in Salt Lake City. "I think war is stupid. One man should not be allowed to hurt so many people. It scares me and my friends when that's all we see on TV," she wrote in a letter to the Deseret News accompanying the lyrics.
If I had a wish
I know what I'd wish
If I had a wish
That wish would be
To stop the possibility
of a war in Iraq or in the world for that matter
I hate to see people's hopes for peace shatter
Saddam Hussein, he's only one man
We can put him in his place, I know we can.If I had a wish
I know what I'd wish
If I had a wish
That wish would be
To bring home our friends from across the sea.
People killing people over one man's belief
Just doesn't make sense causing so much grief.
We're all in one world we should cooperate
To fight with each other is a big mistake. If I had a wish
I know what I'd wish
If I had a wish
That wish would be
To destroy all the world's artillery
I'd take all the weapons, put 'em in one place
Then I'd blow them into outer space.
No more guns, no more missiles, no more nuclear bombs
And we'd all have to learn to get along.
Then I'd take all the money that we'd spend on this crap
And give it to the homeless for a warm place to nap.
Feed the starving children, they deserve to eat too
Oh yes, there's a lot of things that we could do.
If I had a wish
I know what I'd wish
If I had a wish
That wish would be
To make this world better for you and me.
