TOUCHSTONE FILM HALTED UNTIL ANOTHER DIRECTOR IS FOUND

Director Alan J. Pakula and Touchstone Pictures, a Disney subsidiary, have come to a parting of the ways in the production of "Significant Other."

With the picture scheduled to begin filming in a few weeks, it was announced the project, starring Tom Hanks and Debra Winger, has been temporarily shelved until another director can be found.It was reported that "creative differences" between Pakula and Winger were the reason for the break. The story, from an original script by Ron Bass and Al Franklin, is about a husband who discovers his wife is an alcoholic and the couple's attempt to save their marriage.
