Ricky Rudd ran the fastest race ever at Darlington Raceway on Sunday to capture the TranSouth 500 - his first victory at the oldest NASCAR superspeedway.

Rudd, driving a Chevrolet, averaged 135.594 mph, which broke the track record of 135.462 mph set by Dale Earnhardt in the 1989 Southern 500.
