Elizabeth Fisher Tait Wardle "Bessie", age 93, died Saturday, May 18, 1991.
The six children of William and Agnes Stewart Tait were born in Frontier, Wyoming, the family moved to Cumberland and then to Diamondville where Bessie grew up. When Bessie was 17, the family moved to Roosevelt where she met and Married Ervin Wardle September 21, 1918 in Vernal, Utah; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on July 30, 1963. He died August 9, 1971. Bessie owned and operated the Wardle Indian Curior Shop in Roosevelt for 21 years. She retired at the age of 82. And she enjoyed playing bridge. She was active in the P.T.A and served two terms as president. She was instrumental in starting the first school lunch program in Roosevelt which the national program was patterned after.She is survived by one son and one daughter, two sons-in-law, William Keith and his wife Gayle Wardle, Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Madsen, Venice, Utah; Mr. Jay M. Hansen, Roosevelt, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean T. McWilliams, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Preceded in death by son, Ervin Tait "Mickey" Wardle; and daughter, Jean Julia Hansen; three brothers, William, James and Stewart; five sisters, Agness, Fern, Lilly, Jessie and Margaret "Toots".
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 1991 at 1 p.m. in the Roosevelt 8th LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Roosevelt on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery. Funeral directors: Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah.
