Burke Lester Newren, age 22, passed away May 25, 1991 in a motorcycle accident.

Born May 26, 1968 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lester L. Newren and Carolyn Keller. Married Jammie C. Allred, June 21, 1986. Graduated from West High School in 1986 and from the Salt Lake Community College, Beehive Chef's Association Apprentice Program in 1991 where he served as Apprentice Secretary in 1989 and Vice President in 1991. He received much recognition and awards in the Food Shows he entered. He worked at the Red Lion as a Chef Apprentice for three years. He was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He would have started in November, 1991. Member of the LDS Church. He was a Life Scout, sang in the Utah Boys Choir, West High Acapella and Chorale and various musical productions. Worked at the LDS Hospital as night crew supervisor of Food Services for five years. He was a hard worker and was very well respected by all who knew him. He loves his "3 girls", his family, working, cooking and his motorcycle was his whole life.Survived by his wife, Jammie C. and daughters, Allison and Nichole; father and step-mother, Lester L. and Julie Newren, Salt Lake City; mother and step-father, Carolyn K. and H. Charles Mayo, Hesperia, California; brothers, Andy and Dee Newren, Salt Lake City; and Louis Mayo, Hesperia; sisters, Camille Newren, Salt Lake City; Heidi Mayo, Hesperia; step-brothers, Ed and Shawn Mayo, Eric Morgan; step-sister, Melinda Mayo; grandfather, Loey Y. Newren, Salt Lake City and step-grandmothers and in-laws.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 1991 at 12 noon in the Rose Park 4th Ward Chapel, 1151 West 800 North. Friends may call at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 225 South 200 East, Salt Lake City Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and at the Ward, Friday, from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
