Jubilant Jazz fans watch as Utah beats the Phoenix Suns, 101-93, Thursday in the Salt Palace. The win moves Utah into the second round of the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 1988. The team will play the winner of the Portland-Seattle series. Karl Malone scored 38 points, and Jeff Malone, who bounced back from a dismal 0-for-9 shooting effort in the first half, hit 7 of 9 in a 19-point second half. (See stories on D1.)
