Roy Birrell died Saturday, June 8, 1991, at a care center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born September 13, 1905, in Hamilton, Scotland, to Robert and Isabella Robinson Birrell. He immigrated to the United States at age 18. He moved to Salt Lake City where he lived with friends Burton and Reta Little while he was employed at Kennecott Mines. He then moved to Cedar City where he went to work for the Birrell Bottling Co.; later he became manager and managed the plant until he moved to Salt Lake in 1946. While in Cedar City, he was a member of the volunteer fire department and was active in the Elks Lodge, Jr. Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club.He married Elda Webster January 19, 1934, in Parowan, Utah. Upon his arrival in Salt Lake City, Scotty went to work for Utah-Idaho School Supply as shipping and receiving manager. He later went to work for the Kelly Co. in a similar position. He retired from there for the third and last time in 1981.
Scotty was an ardent fisherman and hunter and enjoyed both activities with his friends and family.
Survived by his wife, Elda, of Salt Lake City; two sons, Ronald, of Roy, Utah; Roy, of Cedar City; and five grandchildren. Preceded in death by one brother, David.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 12th, 1pm, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 3401 Highland Drive, under direction of Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary.
