The body of a man found Monday in the Jordan River Surplus Canal has been identified as Steve Scott Miller, 30, Salt Lake City.

Detective Gary Potter, Salt Lake County sheriff's office, said the death is still being investigated as a homicide.A woman bicyclist discovered the body about 10:30 a.m. and notified police. When police arrived, the body was floating face up in the canal at 2200 North Rose Park Lane (2180 West).

Police said the man apparently had been in the water for at least a week.

Authorities identified Miller by fingerprints on file from arrests, Potter reported.
