Leon Jack Nourse, age 71, died Thursday, June 6, 1991 at his home.
He was born January 21, 1921 in Olden, Texas to George William and Eva Janette Blaylock Nourse. He married Della Leone Grover November 4, 1914 in Mapleton, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple March 7, 1991.Mr. Nourse attended schools in Salt Lake City and Provo. He attended the BYU. He lived in Provo Canyon for seven years where he worked for Utah Power and Light Company as a gatehouse attendant, then as operator at Olmstead Hydro Plant. He transferred to the Steam Department and moved his family to Helper, Utah where he resided for 35 years. He also worked at Castle Gate, Huntington Canyon and the Hunter Plant at Castle Dale, Utah. He retired after 37 yeras as Operations Superintendent. After retirement, Mr. Nourse enjoyed traveling and after becoming ill he retired to Ivins to enjoy the excellent medical care available in the area. Mr. Nourse was baptised into the LDS Church July of 1990 and received his temple endowments March 7, 1991. He was well liked and loved by all who knew him.
Surviving family members include his wife, Della Leone of Ivins; two sons and three daughters, David Caldwell of Arco, Idaho; George L. Nourse of Roy, Utah; Diane Olsen of Helper, Utah; Joeleen Nourse, West Jordan, Utah; Vickie Nielson of Elmo, Utah; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one brother, Clayton Nourse, of Murray, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 10, 1991 at 11 a.m. at the Ivins LDS Third Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. on Sunday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and at the Chapel on MOnday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Ivins City Cemetery under the direction of the Metcalf Mortuary.
