A man wounded over the weekend in a shootout with police was charged Tuesday in Provo's 4th Circuit Court with two counts of attempted murder in the first degree.
Kevin Ericksen, 22, Provo, is accused of attempting to kill Provo police officer Phil Webber and Utah County deputy sheriff Mike Morgan. Investigators allege Ericksen fired several shots from a .30-caliber rifle at Webber and Morgan Saturday when they attempted to break up a fight between Ericksen, Dan Herring and Troy Bott.Webber is in serious condition at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Ericksen, who was shot six times by Morgan and Webber, is listed in stable condition. Morgan was not injured.
Obstruction-of-justice and aggravated assault charges also were filed Tuesday against Herring, 22, Provo.
