The Utah Optometric Association elected officers and honored outstanding members at "Congress '91," its recent annual meeting.
Newly elected doctors of optometry are: Ron Pugh, Spanish Fork, president; Harald Olafsson, Salt Lake City, president-elect; Robert Wooldridge, Salt Lake City, vice-president; Gary Brough, secretary-treasurer, Layton.Elected trustees are Lee Tanner, Murray; David Masihdas, Salt Lake City; and Rick Robinson, Salt Lake City.
James Sargent, West Jordan, was recognized as the 1991 Optometrist of the Year, and Craig Cutler, Salt Lake City, was recognized as the Young Optometrist of the Year.
The 1991 President's Awards were given to Jeffrey Keller, Salt Lake City, and Spencer Mortensen, Salt Lake City, in recognition for their dedicated service in getting the passage of legislation that expands services optometrists may provide.
Terry Berner, Salt Lake City; Colleen Bennett, Salt Lake City; Hal Marsell, Layton; and Frank Salimeno, Ogden, were recognized for their service on the State Licensing Board of Examiners for Optometry.
