Paper doll artists from the Children's Friend (now The Friend) will be honored at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the McCurdy Doll Museum, 246 N. 100 East.

Artists being honored include Phyllis Park, Erla Young, Virginia Sargent, June Anne Olsen, Judy Capenor, Marjory Sorenson and others. Paper dolls from these artists will be on exhibit, and a free paper doll will be given away.Paper dolls from many genres will be on display during July and August. The exhibits include "pantins" from the 18th century, "Little Fanny" from 1810, the first known paper doll commercially printed, and contemporary figures including celebrities such as George and Barbara Bush, Shirley Temple, Roy Rogers, the Dionne quintuplets and other famous figures.

Betsey McCall, the longest published paper doll (from 1951-1981), will be on display as well as advertising paper dolls, those from comic strips and historical figures.
