John Childs Meredith, 96, of Orem, died Saturday, July 20, 1991 Orem.
He was born June 1, 1895 in Salt Lake City, a son of James Arthur and Rose Anna Feller Meredith. He married Gladys Clark March 20,1923 in Pocatello, Idaho. They were later divorced. He married Alice Beaumont May 9, 1938 in Beaver. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. World War I veteran. Operated the Meredith Cafe for 35 years in Beaver. Lived in Pleasant Grove and operated the Meredith Cabins. Has resided in Orem since 1967.Survivors include his wife, Orem; three sons and four daughters, Alfred Junior "Jack" Meredith, Arthur C. Meredith, both Orem; Ralph Joseph Meredith, Murray; Gladys Meredith, Sunnyvale, Calif.; Eileen Wade, La Habra, Calif.; Alice M. McGowan, Sandy; Lucille Guest, West Jordan; 26 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded by two brothers, Ralph and Earl.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26, at 1 p.m. in the Orem Sharon Stake Center, 545 South 800 East. Friends may call Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, and Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the stake center. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery with military rites being conducted by VFW District #4.
