The Utah State Fair competition was held Sept. 6 and 7 at Gardner Hall, University of Utah, with the following winners (listed first to third place):
Harp: Maria Watkins; Cate Cannon and Bianca Ence second; Arianna Horne; and Sarah Naylor, honorable mention.Organ: Kevin Walker, Sarah Irish and Brent Morley, with Ronnie Grauman, honorable mention.
Elementary piano: Deondra Brown and Hillary Coombs first; Melissa Haney and Gregory Brown.
Intermediate piano: Adriana Jarvis, Jenny Naylor, and Amanda Moody.
Junior piano: Lara Lambert, Sam Aikele, and Jennie Watson, with honorable mention to Mira Gill, Dustin Gledhill and LaMar Watts.
Senior piano: Ning Lu, Collette Call, and Lisa Neubert and Peter Watkins, third.
Elementary strings: Peter Moench; Samuel Dastrup and Melissa Price second; and Michael Abegg, with honorable mention to Chelsia Eyre, Katherine Grover, Kendra Lowe, Jonathan Lund, Kate Marriott, Peter Romney and Ryan Swigert.
Intermediate strings: Sarah Brough, Rebecca Anderson and Katie Mason.
Junior strings: Jenny Oaks, Kyshanna Lowe and Victoria Ferris.
Senior strings: Joel Belgique, Darrin Howell and Stephen Hodson, with honorable mention to Jennifer Ward.

Prizes include cash awards of $100, $75 and $50 to senior division winners, $75, $50 and $25 to all other divisions; also performances, and the opportunity for some to audition for appearance on the Deseret News-Utah Symphony Salute to Youth concert.
