Virgil George Thomas, age 67, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away September 19, 1991 at the Utah Valley Hospital from complications of a lingering illness.
Born April 6, 19234 in Lehi, Utah to George Ellis and Jenette Checketts Thomas. Married Lois Marie Baxter January 25, 1947 in American Fork, Utah; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.He retired from Geneva Steel in 1982 after 34 years. He loved to travel and was an avid baseball fan.
Survived by wife of Nephi; three sons and three daughters, Gary V. Thomas of Salt Lake City; Douglas G. Thomas, Sherald D. Thomas, and Debbie M. Thomas, all of Nephi; Shirley J. Barlow of Spanish Fork; Shauna K. Chlarson of Pocatello, Id.; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Violet Joosten of Sandy; Lillian Edwards, Carson City, Nev.; LaVenna Thompson, Levan. Preceded in death by a brother Ellis Norman Thomas.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 1991, in th Nephi 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 222 South 100 East. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi, and Tuesday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Graveside services at the American Fork Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
