Keith L. Smith, passed away January 16, 1992, from complications related to cancer treatments.
He was born in Salt Lake City, August 31, 1920, a son of Solomon Elias and Mary Edith Miller Smith. He married Marrilyn Louise Cullimore in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, March 24, 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He attended East High School, the U. of U. and obtained his Ph.D. at Brigham Young University. He retired from Brigham Young University in 1982. After his retirement at BYU he worked for Bennett Leasing. While with BYU he served as Director of Evening Classes, Director, BYU Salt Lake Center for Continuing Education and Division Coordinator of Graduate Programs. His courses in history, religion, interior design and LDS Institutes and Seminaries were enjoyed by many. His church service included Jordan River LDS Temple worker, served in bishopric of East Millcreek 2nd and 9th Ward, former bishop of Highland Park and Highland Park South Wards. Past president of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. Served a mission in California.Survived by his wife, Marrilyn, son Gregory; daughters, Pamela York; Marcia Phillips; Allison Halvorsen; Sydney Daw, all Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Dr. Paul Smith; Vauna Jacobsen; Ruth Sperry, all Salt Lake City; and Norma Fife, Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., January 20, 1992 at the Sandy Utah Granite Stake Center, 2535 East Newcastle Drive (8890 So.) Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Drive, Sunday evening 5-7 p.m. and at the Church Monday from 11:45-12:45 prior to services.
Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
