Two Utah students have been selected to participate in the U.S. Senate Youth Program Feb. 1-8 in Washington, D.C.
The two, Michael Donnelly Murphy, Judge Memorial High School, and Amy Jo Richins, Olympus High School, will join two representatives of each state for the annual exposure to government in action.The student delegates will meet top officials, including President Bush and Vice President Dan Quayle, congressional leaders and representatives of government-related organizations.
Students are selected on the basis of academic ability, leadership qualities and involvement in student government. Each wins a $2,000 scholarship from the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, a co-sponsor.
