As a computer user, I recently purchased an older piece of equipment that was manufactured by a company located in Salt Lake City called Micro Peripherals, Inc. I am trying to locate anyone who may know what happened to the company. I am in need of service manuals and parts for the machine.
The company was listed as Micro Peripherals Inc., 4426 South Century Dr., Salt Lake City, UT 84107. The equipment I purchased was an MPI printer, model 150, serial no. 150-52621. There is a date of Nov. 28, 1984 on the inside of the printer.Any information you might be able to provide would be appreciated. - H.W.K., San Antonio, Tex.
The company is now located in San Diego, Calif. New owners purchased the company in Oct. 1985, and got out of the printer manufacturing business. By June 1986, its Salt Lake City plant was shut down. Spare parts and inventory were sold to MPI Service Co., 358 Rancheros Dr. Suite 114, San Marcos, CA 92069; phone number 619-591-3099. It has spare parts and owners manuals for MPI printers.
Micro Peripherals Inc. is now an engineering design firm for computer systems.
One of the founders of Micro Peripherals speculates that your printer is federal government surplus. During 1984-85 the company had a contract to supply printers for Air Force computer systems. A year later the government issued a new contract with new specifications, making the computer system that contained the MPI printers obsolete.
