Description: This is a small, relatively shallow reservoir easily passed en route to Fish Lake or Otter Creek. About 250 surface acres when full. Sits in a sagebrush-covered valley with gentle sloping shoreline.Fish: Rainbow, Cutthroat and Brown Trout
Details: Good place for the shore fisherman. Easy access and open. In winter, when covered with ice, especially good fishing with ice flies, jigs and baits off the bottom.
What Works: Traditional baits work well -- night crawlers, salmon eggs, cheeses and power baits. Also try small jigs and spinners tipped with night crawler or mill worm.
Notes: Reservoir was drained a few years ago and because of it has reputation of being poor fishing spot. Recent gill net checks, however, show large population of fish and many large fish ranging in size from 2 to 5 pounds. Some camping around shore in the summer. Nearby towns of Richfield and Salina offer excellent accommodations year-round. Several areas to park around shoreline. Good place for float tubes in the spring and summer.
