Harry Matsuichi Shimada, age 81, died January 2, 1992 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah of respiratory failure.

He was born on January 4, 1910 in Honolulu, Hawaii, a son of Matsutaro and Kamo Urada Shimada. He married Yoneko Doi Schimada in 1942 in Los Angeles, California.He graduated from McKinley High School and four years of special Japanese high school. He came to the mainland United States from the Territory of Hawaii in December of 1927 to work in the agriculture industry of Central and Southern California. He relocated to Heart Mountain, Wyoming for the interment of Americans of Japanese ancestry from 1942-1945. He moved to the Orem area in 1945 and began farming. He owned and operated the Garden Farm Produce Market from 1961. He retired in 1984. He has resided at Orchard Park Care Center form 1987 to 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Orem, Utah; two sons, Lawrence E. Shimada, of Orem, Utah; Conrad S. Shimada, of Oakdale, Minnesota; one brother and one sister, Kiyko Sakamoto, Sam Shimada, of Honolulu, Hawaii; preceded in death by four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan.

11, 1991 at 9 a.m. at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, Provo. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. or on Saturday prior to services. Interment: Eastlawn Memorial Hills, Provo.
