Bill Aspden passed away on October 8, 1992 from cancer.
He was born on April 5, 1918 in Almo, Kentucky. He graduated from Jordan High School and the University of Utah, where he was a Sigma Nu as well as a member of the football team. On August 2, 1941, he married Betty Jean Anderson; she died in 1989. On June 6, 1992, he married Gloria Forcht. Bill was an active and devoted member of Wasatch Presbyterian Church. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was extremely successful in his career as a stockbroker and was an associate Vice President at Dean Witter until his retirement. He was a past President of the Utah Securities Dealers Association, a member of Kiwanis, a member of the Alta Club and of Fort Douglas Hidden Valley Country Club where he was a past board member.Bill's first love in life was his family. He also loved the out of doors and was an avid gardener. He took special pride in his nasturtiums. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He also loved to travel and was always planning exciting adventures. He enjoyed life to it's fullest, made every minute count, and set a wonderful example for all.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; and his children, Bill, Jr.; and Barbara Aspden; Barbara and Bill Gibbons; Betsy and Richard Hurty; and his grandchildren, Patrick and Tracy Gibbons; and Tony and Tim Hurty.
His family adored him immensely and he revelled in the special relationships and wonderful times spent together. He will be deeply missed and always remembered as a truly great man.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 12, 1992, 12 noon, at the Wasatch Presbyterian Church, 1626 South 1700 East. Friends may call Sunday evening, October 11, at the Evans &
Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, from 6-8 p.m. and at the church from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Monday. Burial, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Dr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Deseret Foundation, Radiation Therapy, 8th Ave and C Street, Salt Lake City UT 84143; Hospice of Salt Lake; Wasatch Presbyterian Church, or the American Heart Assoc.
