The Minnesota Timberwolves signed former Duke star Christian Laettner, the third overall pick in the NBA draft, to a six-year, $21.6 million contract.

Ed Tiryakian, one of Laettner's agents, said his client will make $2.1 million as a rookie, with the salary increasing annually. He'll make $5 million in the contract's final year.The 6-foot-11 forward led Duke to national titles in 1991 and 1992. He averaged 16.6 points as a four-year starter for the Blue Devils.
