Margaret Taylor Gibbs Fry, age 89, beloved mother and grandmother, completed her life's journey on 27 October, 1992, passing away peacefully at Johannas Nursing Home in Salt Lake City.
She was born 2 Dec. 1902 in Salt Lake City to Margaret Young Taylor, daughter of pres. John Taylor, and Gideon A. Gibbs. She married Lester W. Fry of Morgan, Utah in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, 24 June 1926. Prior to marriage, she was employed as a secretary in the church offices to David O. McKay. She lived with her husband and family in California for several years during the depression, prior to establishing a home on the east bench in Salt Lake. They remained active in the church and community. Lester passed away in 1975. She served faithfully as a teacher in Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. She also participated in ward choirs and dramatic productions. She will be remembered for her kind words of encouragement and friendly smile to those in need. As one of the last remaining granddaughters of pres. John Taylor, she was always willing to reminisce about her pioneer heritage through DUP particiation.She is survived by four children, David L. and JoAnn Fry, Texas; Gordon G. and Elaine Fry, and Douglas W. and Linda Fry, all of Salt Lake City; and Magaret F. and Lynn Newman, Sandy; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her sister, Mary G. Merril, and brothers, John T. Gibbs, and G. Aaron Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 30 Oct. 1992, 11 a.m. at the Colonial Hills Ward, 1455 South 1700 East. There will be a viewing Thursday evening, 7-9 p.m. at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Salt Lake City, and one hour prior to services at the ward.
